National Association of Professional Process Servers

Technology Committee Report - Website Update - 8/13/2016

Since the transfer of the NAPPS website from GoDaddy Hosting to DBS, we have able to see the many benefits in the last year.  Some examples are the NAPPS database has a faster upload time, no interruptions based on server and greater customer service provided by web hosting company. Here is an outline of updates or features to website completed and future updates to be installed:

Updates/Features installed on live NAPPS website:

  • Duplicated the NAPPS website on a non-live version for updates and changes without affecting the live version called “TestNAPPS”.
  • Uploaded New Mexico convention photos to website
  • Updated Board of Directors information and photo
  • Program and Activate NAPPS credit Card payment authorization process through website for dues and donations
  • Add Skype capabilities to website in member search section. this update makes the phone numbers listed for members hyperlink and allows mobile phones to be called through the internet
  • Tested and fixed RSS Feed on website
  • Made the Request for Service and Request for Change of Address/Box-holder Information forms PDF fillable.

Features to be added in the next update on the website are as follows:

  • Install a "Runner" in the Members Only Section and or Home page of website to display breaking news or upcoming events.  Great way to promote the Whova App, convention and or do you need or want a roommate to lower the cost of attending? This may be a great idea.
  • Add a "Return to Home" bottom at the bottom of each page/link.
  • Add/install on our website Google maps widget. The Google maps widget will show the pinning of the “Locations” where each member is located hosted on the NAPPS website based on address or zip code search. (Webmaster is currently in production and testing process).

At the end of this year, I am planning to attend the National Center for State Courts “NCSC” in Las Vegas December 12-14, 2016. This convention will provide the in-depth details on court technology infrastructure and how it is being implemented on a national basis. Discussions will include, which States are providing an e-filing portal or similar infrastructure that supports this technology, such as an Electronic Filing Service Providers (EFSP) that allow filers to choose additional capabilities.  I will continue to post industry related articles on a monthly basis to our social media outlets regarding court updates, technology and fun facts to engage our readers.

Respectfully,

Michael Kern
