Do you know what the "Biggest Myths of Association Membership" are? Some people feel that those who are unsure of their position in the business world hold myths and unrealistic expectations; they complete their application, pay the dues and expect the best to come their way, no questions asked. It takes more than just paying one's dues to experience the benefits that are available through any association. Each member's opinion is appreciated by NAPPS. In order to take affirmative action on any topic the Board needs to hear your ideas and comments. Getting involved is the best way to take full advantage of a long list of benefits available through your membership with NAPPS.

This year's Board is continuing to work towards the betterment of
NAPPS and our Process Industry. We will address ways in which
technology is going to best serve this organization, our membership,
and the potential clients that up-dated technology systems will
attract for individual businesses.
In order for you to stay up to speed with the rapid changes that our
industry is facing, I recommend that you read the "Docket" from
cover to cover, giving special attention to specific articles that are
related to the upcoming changes that we are all facing now.
Continuing education is also going to be a vital link to the possibilities
that technology is going to have by coming into our individual day
to day ways of doing business. NAPPS Annual Conference is an
excellent source for continuing your education, and access to the
newest software programs that will assist your staff.
As changes faces us all, remember to carefully "read instructions"
from other members forwarding you work. So often the forwarding
agent is not aware of your state laws or county rules, so be specific
with your instructions. When on the receiving end, make sure that
you read the instructions in their entirety. Highlight important
factors for your server, to avoid error. When in doubt, hold the paper
until you can confirm with the forwarding agent.
If you have not taken time to review the documents in the front of the
Directly, you might want to, there are forms outlining procedures that are most useful when forwarding work to another member. Maintain accurate records for each
job that you do, so if there is any reason for clarification relating to a dispute over service, you will be prepared.
The Board is scheduled to meet Saturday, November 13, 2004, in San Diego, California, members are welcome to attend, all we ask is that you RSVP to NAPPS Director, Alan Crowe, for the actual count, so that we have enough room to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend the meeting. If you've never attended a Board meeting before, and are located close enough to attend a meeting scheduled close to your location, don't hesitate, come and see what your Board is doing for NAPPS members. I can assure you, you won't be disappointed, so often attending members comment on how much they enjoyed the meeting, or how much they learn from listening to the Board discuss and resolve issues that has a potential impact on their own business.
Last, but not least, remember the "Open Door Policy" that every member is entitled to; NAPPS Office is open Monday through Friday, where Alan Crowe and his staff are available to assist you with your questions . In addition to the NAPPS Office, each of you are welcome to contact me directly with questions, comments or suggestions, regarding NAPPS, anytime. The best way to reach me is by e-mail, mair@ssp-legalsupport.com , fax # 360-676-8756, US mail, or by calling my office, and leaving a message if I'm not available # 360-647-2441. I may not always be able to provide you with an immediate response, or direct personal attention to your inquiry, but you can trust me to refer the matter to the board or the best person to address your matter of importance.
