Alan wins Bert Rosenthal Award
| index |

September-October 2002

By: Joseph P Butler

Each year, the California Association of Photocopiers and Process Servers (CAPPS) Bert Rosenthal Memorial Award Committee meets and makes nominations for possible recipients of this prestigious award. The committee is made up of the current CAPPS President, all past CAPPS Presidents and past award recipients. This distinguished award is presented to an individual who, over the years, has demonstrated the utmost dedication and service toward perpetuating and elevating the process service industry. In 1978, the CAPPS Board of Directors decided to name the award after a man who exemplified these ideals: Bert Rosenthal.

Bert Rosenthal was a founding member and one of the most respected members of the California Association of Photocopiers and Process Servers. Those who knew him say that Bert Rosenthal truly touched the lives of everyone he met and gave a bit of class to the words: Process Server.

The Bert Rosenthal Memorial Award Committee, chaired by Connie Melvin-Quigley, announced that the 2002 award nominees were:
  • Alan H. Crowe
  • Ronald Ezell
  • David Nill
  • Mark Schwartz
It is quite an honor to simply be nominated for this award and congratulations are in order for these outstanding individuals. It should be noted that all four nominees are NAPPS members. In addition, Alan Crowe is our Administrator and both David Nill and Ron Ezell are officers.

Over the years, NAPPS has been well represented in that fourteen of the twenty people to be honored with the Bert Rosenthal Memorial Award have been members. These distinguished individuals include Michael A. Buter -1979; Andrew R. Estin - 1980; Richard J. Green - 1981; Connie Melvin - 1985; Elaine J. Erdman - 1989; Thomas J. Bowman - 1990; Michael O. Price - 1991; Joseph H. Karotkin - 1992; Frederic A. Blum - 1994; Tony Klein - 1995; Paul R. Anderson - 1997; Jeffery H. Karotkin - 1999; Edward R. Wasserman - 2000; and now, Alan H. Crowe in 2002. Alan also enjoys the distinction of being only the second winner of this award in its history to be a CAPPS Member from outside the State of California.

Choosing a winner must have been very difficult, as all of this year's nominees have earned the recognition of their peers. However, Alan H. Crowe truly deserves this award. As a founding member of NAPPS, Alan has made and continues to make an indelible impact on the process service industry over the past two decades. He tirelessly works endless hours and always goes above and beyond, giving more of himself than is expected or required. To list all the challenges he has met, or the contributions and sacrifices he has made for our association, both personal and professional, would be impossible. However, Alan doesn't mind, because he doesn't do it all for glory or recognition. Quite simply, he does what he does because he loves the work.

Alan H. Crowe is the embodiment of the word: professionalism. Through his passion, Alan imparts this professionalism to everything he does for NAPPS, its membership and the process service industry.
